Abstract


Economic globalization and regional economic integration is the development of two major trends in the world economy today. Under the influence of the global economic crisis, trade protectionism trend enhanced, more and more countries and regions tend to be through the establishment of a free trade zone to speed up tariff reduction and relaxation of market access conditions to promote trade, investment and economic growth, the maximum limit sharing the benefits of economic globalization. South Korea and the European Union initialed a free trade agreement in October 2009. The agreement to enhance trade relations between the EU and South Korea to prevent and oppose trade protectionism has very profound and positive meaning. The EU is South Korea's second largest trading partner; outside the region of South Korea is the EU's eighth largest trade partner. Korean-European bilateral trade amounted to over 90 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, trade annual growth rate of 7.5%, the two sides have a realistic basis to establish a free trade zone. Article to the economic effects of the Korea-European Free Trade Area for the study, based on a customs union theory, the theory of free trade zones and other related trade theory. First reviewed the Korea-European free trade agreement negotiation process, the contents of the agreement, and the Korea-European FTA and the Korea-US FTA were compared. Second, from the Korea-European trade in goods, trade in services and foreign investment in three areas analyzed Korea and Europe to establish a free trade area with a solid foundation. Then analyzed the Korea-European economic openness, trade with the degree of intra-industry trade index, and then use the gravitational trade forecasts Korea and Europe to establish a free trade zone after the trade potential, and build a model of the static effects of the Korea-European Free Trade Area and dynamic effects, the use of partial equilibrium equation applicable to Korea and Europe to establish a free trade zone Korea and the European Union trade diversion and creation effect. Finally, starting from the status quo of China and South Korea and China-EU trade, by means of the theoretical formula to estimate the Korea to China, the European Union China's trade diversion effect, which gives China's response to the suggestions of the Korea-European FTA. On the basis of existing research, the innovation of the following aspects: First, the research question of novelty, Korea-European free trade agreement is likely to be implemented in this year, so that this research has a strong practical significance. Second, the integrated use of qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, comparative analysis and other methods to build the model, according to the theory and use of partial equilibrium formula to measure the value of Korea and Europe to establish a free trade zone after the trade diversion and trade creation effect. Third, the significance of the topics more importantly, Korea and Europe to establish a free trade zone of China and South Korea, China-EU trade. Text obtained through the standard theory and empirical research: the Republic of Korea to the EU trade dependence is higher than the EU Korean trade dependence between intra-industry trade of manufactured goods. Han-European trade potential value slightly larger than 1, indicating that the lack of potential for expansion in Han-European trade in goods in the current state. Korea there is a big potential of trade with countries such as Denmark, Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg to strengthen trade relations with these countries will be a breakthrough in South Korea to further expand trade with the EU. After the establishment of the FTA, the Korean welfare improve, the number of EU production and consumption the same as before, does not occur in consumer surplus reduction and negative production effects. Estimated after the establishment of the FTA, Korea will achieve $ 9,564,100,000 trade creation and trade diversion $ 4,070,900,000; EU will achieve $ 6,910,400,000 trade creation and trade diversion of $ 846.3 million.
