Abstract


In this paper, the Great Famine of 1959-1961 as the research object , use Amartya Sen 's famine theory testing occurs because of the Great Famine . Sen's theory of famine as the starting point , an objective analysis of the Chinese famine of 1959-1961 , the development of political, economic and institutional reasons . Further use of econometric models , the empirical analysis on the population caused by the death of the Great Famine of 1959-1961 , Mori theory and the theory of traditional famine explanatory power of this famine , through a comparative analysis found Mori theory more explanatory power . The end of this great famine , the dissolution of the communal dining hall with a decisive factor. This is because , the public canteens dissolution so that each family food distribution in the actual process of substantive freedoms regression . History tells the future, to ensure national food security , we must always unswervingly adhere to the position of agriculture as the foundation to further enhance the comprehensive grain production capacity , adhere to the fairness and justice of the food distribution system .
