Abstract

This article attempts to start with the perspective of sociology organization, adopting the methods of field investigation and interview, using the perspective of structure-functionalism.It makes an objective description of Dasi-village’s religious groups condition and analyses social structure position, dilemma, relationships with other rural civil organizations of these religious groups which in the procedure of social transition through investigating the religious groups conditions of Dasi-village which is located in the center of Anhui province. Base on that, it analyses social functions of rural religious organizations which are parts of rural civil organizations during the social transition.The paper is composed by introduction and body.Introduction includes six contents:(1) indicating that the origin of this research topic and elaborating the value and meaning of this research topic; (2) defining several key concepts:social transition, religion, religious groups, rural religious groups; (3) clearing the research angles of view, methods and material sources; (4) summarizing the study present condition of rural religious groups of our time; (5) showing the reasons of selecting the place for investigating.There are five chapters of this paper. The first chapter is the introduction of Dasi-village, mainly introduced the village’s nature, geography, history and developing present condition. The second chapter is the outline of Dasi-village’s religious groups, mainly described that villagers’ believes in Buddhism and Christianity respectively. On that basis, it made analysis and comparison of all religious groups’ formation reasons, characteristics and practical difficulties. The third chapter is the localization of rural religious groups in the social structure. It proceeded with the relationship between rural religious groups and other rural folk organization, and the relationship with the government organization, using the Relationship between State and Society pattern to analyze the rural religious groups in the social structure of "third-department" positioning. The fourth chapter is the function of rural religious groups to the social development in the social transition. This part is thinking theoretically about present rural religious groups questions, which based on the three previous chapters, exploring the social function of rural religious groups as a social subsystem. It mainly adopted Merton’s Experience Functionalism and pointed out that Manifest Function and Potential Function of the rural religious groups. The fifth chapter is the summary and discussion about this paper. This part mainly pointed out the shortage of the article and explained the universality, applicability and particularity of this article’s views, and put forward a few problems which need to be studied further.This paper’s characteristic is that using theories and methods of Organization Sociology and Structure- Functionalism, exploring theoretically rural religious groups with the basis of field investigation.
