Abstract

In this paper, functional films based on polyoxometalates anion and dyes, {PEI/PSS/PEI/(α-PMo12/FB)n} and {PEI/(V6Mo6 /MV)n}, have been fabricated through the electrostatic layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly method. In addition, the glowing process, components, structures and properties of these films were characterized by UV-Vis spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fluorescence spectra (FL) and cyclic voltammetry (CV).The film constructed byα-PMo12 anions and FB cations was smooth and homogeneous, and the original structures and properties of the components are still retained in the film. The cyclic voltammetry measurements show that the POMs-FB film exhibits electrocatalytic activity toward the reduction of bromate, which demonstrated the retainment of polyoxometalate. The fluorescence spectra of the FB aqueous solution (10-4 mol/L) and the (α-PMo12/FB)n multilayer film have demonstrated that the fluorescence of FB is retained. The films have potential applications in fields of luminescence sensors, electrotransfer and electrocatalysis devices. The homogeneous film based on polyoxometalates V6Mo6 and methylene violet has been prepared via LBL self-assembly technique. The {PEI/(V6Mo6/MV)n} film shows intense fluorescence stemming from component MV, and shows distinct antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli. The cyclic voltammetry measurements have demonstrated that the electrochemical properties of polyoxometalate the {PEI/(V6Mo6 /MV)n} film are maintained in the multilayer film, which exhibits electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of ClO3- , BrO3-, NO2?.
