At present, utilization of antibiotic drugs was the main method to cure bacterial infection, but there is short of effective drugs against fungal infection yet. As eukaryote, fungi have the similar cell structure and enzyme catalysis system as plant and animal, so the antibiotics against bacteria can not affect fungi and antifungal drugs often have strong toxicity to the cells of plant and animal. Fungal pathogens often attack the patients whose immune system was ruined, such as the AIDS patients, terminal cancer patients(especially after radiotherapy or chemotherapy) and the organ transplanted patients(using immunosuppressant), leading their death. Exploiting new effective antifungal drugs which have no or low toxicity for animal is very urgent.As natural defense elements of living organisms, antimicrobial peptides were well concerned recently. Different from traditional antibiotics, antimicrobial peptides have special action mechanisms, by which the pathogens are suppressed effectively and difficult to form drug-resistance strains.
