Abstract


Responsibility is an old and important category in ethnics. In the whole system of ethnics, moral responsibility is at the highest level. Therefore, the awareness of moral responsibility becomes one of the most important signs of weighing one’s moral consciousness and moral extent reached. One’s moral capability, to a certain extent, lies on the awareness of moral responsibility. Any discussion about moral education can not avoid responsibility education. Responsibility education is the core of moral education. Successful moral education, in its true sense, is to teach people to act responsibly and to cultivate people’s sense of moral responsibility.College students in our time are the main force of future national construction, and shoulder the historical mission of rejuvenating the Chinese nation. However, we cannot be optimistic about the consciousness of responsibility of some college students, because it happens from time to time that they fail to conform to moral norms, which has become a widespread problem that many people are concerning about. Thinking highly of the cultivation of college students’ moral responsibility is, in its true sense, to mould their system of soul. Responsibility education of college students aims to mould scientific outlook on duty, cultivate the students’ consciousness of duty, enhance students’ sense of duty and spirit of responsibility for the motherland and the nation, the society and the environment, the family and oneself, and to further manifest them by the act of being loyal to the motherland, devoting to the society, caring for others, protecting the environment and perfecting selves. Concerning with the moral responsibility education of colleges and universities and restoring morality is how to cultivate a responsible citizen, and to make them learn to assume responsibility, become men with sense of responsibility, and live a responsible life.First of all, I study the present status of undergraduates’ moral responsibility crisis, reflect the moral responsibility education of universities, and study the phenomenon of undergraduates’ lacking of moral responsibility to themselves, to their family, to their profession, to the society, etc. Further more, through anglicizing the reasons of the undergraduates’ lacking of moral responsibility to individual, society, university and their family, I held the view that the basic reason is that we are lacking of the sense of responsibility. It’s an important factor. We have ignored responsibility education for a long time. Therefore, strengthens the responsibility education and instructing students to undertake their responsibility are the core content of moral education in universities, as well as a task with theoretical and practical signification.Second, this dissertation starts from ethnics, exploring the causes of people carrying out moral responsibility. Through comparing the moral responsibility of eastern and western culture, I reveal the real meaning of moral responsibility, and expatiate the classification of moral responsibility and mental mechanism of moral responsibility performance. We must distinguish the relation between responsibility and obligation, duty, consciousness. It is necessary to undertake the moral responsibility.Third, I put forth in the dissertation that the basis of people carrying out moral responsibility is people’s freedom and choice, and expatiate the relation between the free will, choice and moral responsibility. Freedom is the foundation of responsibility; responsibility is the property of choice; choice is the precondition of undertaking responsibility. We can choose and let the chooser undertake the responsibility as long as we are free. It’s the responsibility that shows choosers are free. Freedom is concomitant with are. I also point out that role undertake responsibility, and cooperation result in responsibility. Further more, I expatiate the foundation and condition of people carrying out moral responsibility.Finally, this dissertation aims at instructing undergraduates to undertake their moral responsibility. After the explanation of affirming and orientating the position of moral responsibility education of colleges and universities, we should further define the concept and content of moral responsibility education, draw upon the foreign strengths, and probe into the practical strategy of moral responsibility education of colleges and universities from the perspective of rational cognition of sense of responsibility and construction of consciousness of responsibility.
