Expansive soil is a special dauby soil which will intenerate and expand aftersopping, but will shrink and craze after losing water. Its main engineering property iscranny, strong concretion and repeat expansive-shrink and so on. In the expansive soilarea, affected by physical weathering and wet expanding and dry pinching effect ofatmosphere, the side slope soil block breaks, and the soil body shearing strengthweakens and so on distortion disaster phenomenon extrusive. In resent years, with theconstruction of high class highways, many areas meet with the trouble of expansivesoil. In the present, the stability of subgrade construction in the expansive has been animportant research subject to be reckoned with construction engineering. On the basis of previous research work, take the side slope between qinchizhento dazhuang for example, the paper makes a study of the expansive soil side slopestability affected by rainfall intensity, the foot of the slope excavation, cranny crazedepth and rainfall duration, and make the analysis and calculation of the stability ofexpansive soil slopes. On this basis, a comprehensive treatment program to take thecombination of prestressed anchor frame beam and soil nailing anchor reinforcementsystem design calculations to optimize the spacing of the anchor cable design. The study results are properly applied in the construction and will certainly giveuseful guidance to the expressway construction in the expansive area in China in thefuture.
