Self anchored suspension bridge is a competitive scheme for its beautiful structure and attractive appearance. At present, there are two construction methods,"first beam then cable" and "first cable then beam". Both of the construction methods are bound to precedence relationship on main cable and main beam construction. But it is required to minimize winter construction time in the northern cold regions or for the projects with tight construction period. We must seek other construction methods to minimize the construction period.Based on the idea of reducing the construction period, a scheme which named "beam-cable synchronization" construction method is proposed in the thesis, which means erecting the main cable and catwalk before the main beam construction is completed. The main idea of this scheme was introduced, and the thorough study on the rationality of the construction scheme was carried out. The main beam can not withstand the horizontal loads passed from the main cables. So the primary problem is the temporary anchorage of the main cables when the main cables were erected along with the beam construction. Firstly, analysis was carried out on the eleventh road bridge across the Mudanjiang River in the western of Mudanjiang city. The horizontal force which supported by the temporary anchorage system was calculated when the "beam-cable synchronization" scheme was adopted, and three kinds of temporary anchor systems was discussed and compared from the aspects of horizontal force and engineering quantity, based on which a reasonable temporary anchorage is determined. Then, research was done on different span and different sag-span ratio of the twin towers as well as the single tower self-anchored suspension bridges. A temporary anchorage plan is found to be preferred for self anchored suspension bridges with different span and different sag-span ratio when the "beam-cable synchronization" construction scheme is adopted. In addition, the construction organization of the "beam-cable synchronization" scheme is studied and the social and economic benefits were analyzed, which proves the scheme to be more reasonable.The method discussed could provide a reasonable and economic scheme for the construction of the self-anchored suspension bridge.
