Abstract


On the basis of former linguists’study, the paper researches the phrase "Vde/bu C" from various visual.It analyzes the syntax functions and semantic relations of "Vde/bu C’and its pragmatics features.It focuses on errors made by foreign students in their acquisition of Chinese phrase "Vde/bu C",summarizes error patterns and causes and suggests teaching strategies.Based on the theory background of three levels in grammar,with the subsidiary use of error analysis and contrastive analysis in second language acquisition,the paper is trying to get an all-around understanding of the phrase "Vde/bu ".The paper can be divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 briefly retrospects the research situation of the phrase "Vde/bu C" so far. We find the research has been widened and furthered in an overall way, but current studies put the phrase "Vde/bu C" into a category of complement indicating possibility to discuss.Few studies carry out the research of the phrase "Vde/bu C"as a individual.The studies of "Vde/bu C"in teaching Chinese as a second language is not so plentiful.The paper sets its research direction and aim on the basis of current studies.Chapter 2 studies the phrase "Vde/bu C" from syntactical and semantic angel, discusses its syntactical functions, semantic relations and structure etc,including the part of speech of and semantic feature of "V" and "C". We come to a conclusion that the semantic feature of "V" is [+controllability], while the semantic features of "C" are [+objective] and [+dynamics]. "V" and "C" have semantic selection of each other.The semantic structure of the phrase "Vde/bu C"can be divided into uni-directional, doubleaction and three-dimensional according to the relations among "Vde/bu C" and its compelling semantic elements. Chapter 3 analyzes the pragmatics features of the phrase "Vde/bu C". Firstly we study the focal point and focus of expression of the phrase "Vde/bu C" and its selection of sentence categories.Then we compare the phrase "Vde/bu C"and"neng/bu neng VC" in pragmatics level and analyze their interchangeable relation."Vde C" generally can be replaced by "neng VC" and there is not much difference in the meaning after the change of the phrases, but there are some tiny difference in pragmatics."Neng VC" is more affirmative than the phrase "Vde C" in manner of speaking.The phrases "V bu C" and"bu neng VC" is not so interchangeable as "Vde C" and "neng VC", on most occasions they are not interchangeable. The phrases "V bu C" and"bu neng VC" can both express subjective and objective possibility, but ambiguity occurs without the context. The phrases have definite meaning in specific context.Chapter 4 carries out the research of the phrase "Vde/bu C" in the teaching of Chinese as a second language.We summarize the error types made by foreign students in their acquisition of Chinese phrase "V de/bu C" into the following:Confusion of "Vde/bu C" and "neng/bu neng VC"; absence of "Vde/bu C" or "neng/bu neng VC"; misuse of the adverbial adjunct before the phrase "Vde/bu C";misuse of the phrase "Vde/bu C"and special syntactical structure.This part also analyzes the causes of errors and puts foward some teaching strategies in aspects of language universality, avoidance strategy, over-generalization of target language grammar rules, etc.
