College graduates are considered as valuable human resources and the high-quality main force in modernization construction. If the problem of college students’unemployment could not be properly settled, it could directly affect the construction of socialist harmonious society. However, with the development of popular higher education, the incompatibility between the increasing college enrollment rate and the limited demands of college graduates every year in society leads a fierce job competition, and students’heavy employment pressure continues unabated. Therefore, difficulty of employment has become the focus as well as a severe challenge of the society. In recent years, the college graduates are confronted with unprecedented pressure and the number of fresh graduates across the country is over 6 million per year. In this severe situation, to these colleges aiming at cultivating talents, offering graduates more employment opportunities and helping them be employed successfully should be the first imperative. Meanwhile, the employment rate has already become an important index of measuring the levels of running a school and quality of education, which directly relates to the school’s reputation. For a college, it is extraordinarily meaningful.Reasons for employment problems of the college graduates are various, such as supply-demand imbalance, students’deficiencies on self-discipline, the low level of college employment service, etc. Through years of working experience in the field of college employment, the writer discoveries that employment service of a college has gradually become a decisive factor to graduates’employment. By years of constant construction, Chengdu University of Information Technology has gained great achievements in employment service. However, with the increasingly severe employment situation, the current employment service level has departed from the university’s requirement on employment, which has largely restricted the further promotion of employment level. This article starts from the employment status of graduates and analyzes those typical problems with which the students have confronted during employment, such as a lack of career planning, obsolete employment concepts, employment psychological immaturity and insufficient information etc. Among these reasons, the severe laggard of university’s employment service level comes to the first, including backward employment concept, defective employment service system, low level of employment guidance, faulty information collection, delivery, release and lacking service on starting a business etc. To solve these issues, in terms of employment service, which limit the advancement of the employment, this article holds that universities shall attach great importance to improving the employment service, making an explicit guidelines of integrated planning and the whole staff participation. Meanwhile, the reform principle including the’people-oriented, the whole process, the systematization and harmonious cooperation should be indeed established as well as the core role of the employment guidance. On this basis, some solutions and advices have been put forward to improve the employment service system and stimulate the employment rate of graduates. Firstly, the college should make full use of practical conditions to change the concepts of neglecting vocational guidance and strengthen the vocational guidance. Secondly, the college should positively provide a platform presenting employment information, which can enlarge the information amount of the graduates. Thirdly, the college should convert the single employment channel to diversification. Fourthly, the college should reform education and teaching to improve the graduates’employability comprehensively. Fifthly, the college should enrich the connotation of service on starting a business and perfect the regime of employment distribution. In the new historical period, to settle employment problems of the graduates and to promote the employment to a new stage, the university must further develop the professional content in line with the improvement and reinforcement of employment service, and further perfect the employment service system, providing a stronger support for their employment. Thereby, the employment level of the university can be really promoted, and a great contribution can be made for the university’s sustainable development.
