Abstract


Boxing is a strongly rival athletics event. It is an all-around test to participants’varietyqualities including stamina, intelligence, mind, skills and tactics and so on. Skillful tech,flexible tactics, energetic physical strength is needed. It is a competition of both sides instamina, skills, mind, willpower and intelligence. It is not only good for cultivating agilethinking, composed mind, brave trait and persevere spirit; but also a functional body buildingactivity to develop personal mind and body. Setting up boxing optional course in regularinstitutions of higher education in Harbin is supposed to be significantly important inenriching Physical Education curriculums, improving physical activities outside curriculums,deepening Physical Education reform in higher education, carrying forward quality educationof university students, and accelerating vigorous expansion of boxing athletics.Five regular institutions of higher education in Harbin have been researched in this paper.Questionnaire survey, Documentary data, interview, statistical analysis and on-the-spotinvestigation has been employed to analyze the feasibility of setting up boxing optionalcourse in higher education of Harbin by studying the development, features, values of boxingathletic; willing to set up a boxing optional course of faculties and students, teaching ability,sport area and facility. Additionally, surveys and interviews to physical experts, faculties, andstudents for teaching condition, teaching mode, teaching method, assessments has beencarried out in detail; and a curriculum design of boxing optional course has been finished.According to investigation, results can be concluded as following:(1) Boxing athletic, having highly value of body building and practicality, is very popularin students. Students can be developed all-around in mind and body through it. The athleticneeds limited area and simply facility.83.7% faculties and students think boxing optionalcourse is suitable to set up in regular institutions of Harbin. 92% faculties believe that itsuitable to set up in their school.(2) Feature, function and value of boxing athletic is meeting the requirements of higherschools, suitable to the spirit of《National Regular Institutions of Higher Education PhysicalEducation Teaching Instruction Outline》, beneficial for improving popularization anddevelopment of boxing athletic. It is necessary to set up boxing optional course in regularinstitutions of higher education of Harbin.(3) By strengthening faculty building and training, promoting boxing faculty’sprofessional skills, polishing structure of faculty, it is possible to set up boxing optionalcourse in regular institutions of higher education of Harbin.(4) Curriculum design of boxing optional course in regular institutions of higher education of Harbin has been established through surveys and interviews.
