Abstract
|
In the last six decades, inorganic semiconductor electronic devices have already brought us lots of convenience in every aspect of our life and work, making significant influences in our lives and contribution in the rapid development of modern information society. Nevertheless, its development is still limited due to its disadvantages of high energy consumption and difficulties in manufacturing etc. As a consequence, in some specific area, organic semiconductors are gradually replacing the inorganic ones because of their advantages, such as high brightness, low energy consumption, low cost and ease of manufacturing, etc.. The interfacial properties of the metal substrate and the organic material are the major factors determining the performance of the organic semiconductor devices. Therefore it is of high necessity to study the interfacial properties of the organic semiconductor, such as electronic properties and interfacial geometry structure. In this thesis, we carried out an angle resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (ARUPS) investigation on CoPc/Au(111) under the ultra-high vacuum environment. When the coverage reached one monolayer, the ARUPS data showed that the CoPc molecules aligned themselves parallel to the Au(111) surface. As the coverage increased, the intensity of the5d electron state peak of the Au(111) substrate gradually attenuated, while the characteristic electron peaks of CoPc started to show up. These results indicate the interaction between the CoPc molecules and Au(111) substrate. The decrease of the work function was attributed to the charge transfer between the molecules and substrate.
