In this paper, the key technologies and design contents of vehicle monitoring system which is taken in construction machinery remote monitoring technology as the research subject have been studied. Based on the way of modular design, the desired overall function of vehicle terminal equipment is divided into several specific unit modules. The main research contents and results are focused on the following parts:In chapter1, introduced the background and significance of construction machinery remote monitoring technology. At the same time, the principle and applications in kinds of areas of remote monitoring technology are presented, which leads to the current research situation in the field of construction machinery. Then the deficiencies of vehicle monitoring system in the types of data collection, wireless network carriers and data transmission are pointed out. Finally, the research contents are given.In chapter2, discussed several core technologies of vehicle monitoring system, including three major aspects of video supervision, image compression coding and wireless network transmission.In chapter3, related to the collectivity design of vehicle monitoring system, which is divided into five parts:the construct collectivity design of remote monitoring system, the functional demand analysis of vehicle system, the stream medium self-adaptation transfers based on RTP/RTCP protocol, the synchronized mechanism of programming and the construct collectivity design of vehicle system.In chapter4, finished the design of hardware circuit of the vehicle monitoring system. Adopting the frame structure form of "core board+expansion board", the functional unit is divided into several modules, including data collection module, RTC module,3G wireless communication module power management module liquid crystal module and interface debugging module.In chapter5, finished the design of software of the vehicle monitoring system. selecting the Embedded Linux as the operating system, the vehicle terminal complete the work of system portability. Finally, the functions of data collection, local video supervision and wireless network transmission are achieved, based on both driver development and application program design of modules.In chapter6, tested the vehicle monitoring system as follow:hardware platform, data collection, video display, image compression coding and self-adaptation transfer.
