Abstract


"ShiJi" isChina’s first general history presented in a series of biographies. Annal-biographyis a style centered on biography to reflect history. Sima Qian, his eyes focused on the humanbeings throughout the long history, watching the ups and downs of historical figures, thinkingabout the meaning and value of human existence. He integrated his own miserable life into thegreat work of "Shi Ji", and made "Shi Ji" become a classic.The view of fate often roots deep in people’s sub consciousness, with it thecharacteristics of complexity, it is difficult to explore the whole picture. Although previousstudies have touched upon the view of fate of Sima Qian, there are few articles of systematicresearch on Sima Qian’s view of fate. The current study is still sporadic and incomplete, lackof systematicness, and the depth of research needs to be further explored. The formation ofthe view of fate closely relates with the living environment of Sima Qian. Ancestor worshipawareness, Confucian concept of destiny and Taoist concept of destiny constitutes therichness of his concept of fate. His concept of fate is multidimensional. He pays attention tothe fate of lower-class people as well as his own fate and the fate of the nation. Study of SimaQian’s fate is needed through theoretical interpretation and shiji detailed textual analysis, toreveal the spiritual core of the fate of Shiji. From shiji Sima Qian’s view of fate, is to see howhe thought people’s lives and survival values and the role of human activities played in thedevelopment of history.In order to reveal systematically the Sima Qian’s view of fate, the text includes five parts.The first part discusses the formation of the fate and the fate of multivariate ideas; The secondpart focuses on the rich connotation of Sima Qian ’s view of fate; The third part analyses thepredicament of fate that sima qian faced and his extraordinary courage and power ofpersonality beyond his own fate; The fifth part mainly from the macro aspect to explain whatSima Qian think about the destiny of a nation.Through the systematic comprehensive study, we found that the view of fate of SimaQian is the projection of time concept, is the criticism and inheritance of pre-qin, is a pursuitof independent personality of intellectuals, the historical mission of bear responsibility, andembodies the great humanistic feelings.
