Abstract


Self-esteem is the core of the college students’ individual personality, It has importantinfluence on the quality of the development for college students. At the same time, as themain sign of college students’ mental health, self-esteem has protective effect on mentalhealth. During college, college students will face the transition from students to social stage,during this period of experience and accumulated experience have a significant impact on thepersonality development in the future. According to the survey, low self-esteem, is animportant root which causes the college students’ psychology and behavior, this makes itbecome an obvious problem of reality. Therefore the development and training of self-esteemhas the feasibility and necessity. Sandplay therapy has already have a mature system andpsychological treatment technology, this study try to use sandplay therapy to makeidentification and intervention of college students of low self-esteem levels.The research include two aspects:Study1: The participants from1-3grade college students. The study uses SES to select30college students with low self-esteem levels as experimental group and30college studentsout of low self-esteem levels as control group. Both of them do initialize sandplay, Bycomparing the dimensions of two groups, the fundamental sandplay characteristics of lowself-esteem level college students were summarized.Study2: Select2individual cases from experimental group and through the applicationof sandplay therapy, in order to verify the effectiveness of sandplay therapy, and providereference for the university students’ psychological counseling.The results show that:(1) The trauma theme proportion of low self-esteem level group are higher than thecontrol group, and shows the significant difference on empty, split and blocked.(2) The scene features of low self-esteem level group are harmonious, internal andstatic.(3) The family theme of low self-esteem level group are more than control group andshow a significant difference.(4) The total number of toys and total species of low self-esteem level group are lessthan control group, and show significant difference on animals, plants, food and stone. (5) The number of low self-esteem level group without moving sand are significantlymore than the control group. And the number of low self-esteem level group moved sand on alarge scale are significantly less than the control group.(6) The without self-image and real self-image of low self-esteem level group are lessthan the control group with significant difference.(7) The low self-esteem level group use less time in sandplay production.(8) For a period of treatment time, self concept and self-knowledge of low self-esteemlevel students became gradually clear, it shows that sandplay therapy has good effect on thelow self-esteem college students.
