Abstract

With the rapid development of China’s comprehensive national strength, our nationaltraditional sports have also gained national attention and rapid development. The ninthnational traditional ethnic minority sports were held in Guizhou province successfully, whichushered in a new stage of growth in the development of Minority Traditional Sports in China.Among so many traditional ethnic minority sports, pearl ball sport wins popularity with itsunique characters. Pearl ball, which originated in Manchu, is the crystallization of the wisdomof working people in ancient China, with strong nature of recreation and worth watching. Inthe games held between cities and provinces, pearl ball sport has been developed widely, andhas become the most interesting game.In University, physical education is an important part of the school curriculum system,with the aim to enhance students’ physical fitness, health and physical quality. Universityphysical education is not only to cultivate students’ consciousness of lifelong physicaleducation, but to cultivate talents for the development of China’s sports. The introduction ofpearl ball sport into University PE classroom, not only helps to cultivate the students’ interestin learning, understanding of national culture, foster the sense of national pride, but topromote the reform of University Physical Education curriculum.This research paper adopts the method of literature and investigation, questionnaire,mathematics statistics method, logical demonstration, studying the inevitability and feasibilityof carrying out the pearl ball course in Colleges and universities in Hebei province.Through the investigation, it is found that the pearl ball course in Colleges anduniversities is necessary:1.Characteristics of pearl ball sport: pearl ball doesn’t require much on the site andequipment, proper for the public with simple rule, and easy to carry out in Colleges anduniversities; the game is worth viewing, and its tactics are relatively simple. It will attractmore students to participate because it is easy to score.2. To promote the reforming process of physical education teaching in university, theNational Teaching Guidelines for P.E.Course at the Level of General Universities andColleges combines the internationalization with nationalization of PE courses andintroduces the pearl ball sport. It enriches the course setting, at the same time, broadensstudents’ horizons, cultivates students’ interest, and gives full play to teachers’ innovation. Theintroduction of the pearl ball into the university physical education curriculum is conducive tofurther promote the college physical education teaching reform.3. Helps to promote the popularization and development of sports ball pearl in university:the popularization and development of pearl ball in universities not only cultivate the goodquality of college students, but also enrich the cultural life of college students.It expands the interpersonal communication, and cultivate team spirit and sense of national pride.Through investigation, it is found that the feasibility of offering pearl ball courses of inColleges and universities in Hebei Province lies in:1. Social environment provides the feasibility of pearl ball project in Colleges anduniversities in Hebei Province: China always attaches great importance to traditional sports,committed to the development of the traditional national sports, and every4years a nationalminority traditional sports meeting will be held. Hebei province has set up12minoritytraining base in2004, which shows our province attaches great importance to the traditionalminority national sports, and in a few colleges and universities in our province the pearl ballis a required course or selective course2. Reform of the PE courses provides a platform for the development of the pearl ball inthe University: decline in physical quality of juvenile students, weak sports foundation,obvious polarization. This situation has become a serious problem for universities sportsteaching, which restricts the development of college sports. Therefore, there is no delay toreform. The introduction of science, system and regulation of pearl ball sport not only canenrich university courses, but cultivate the national spirit in the daily teaching, to improvestudents’ physical quality service.3. The rapid development of Hebei economy provides material basis for pearl ballproject: pearl ball doesn’t require much on course and equipment. Good economy is thefoundation of the Pearl ball. With the rapid development of economy in Hebei Province, itprovides material basis for the pearl ball in Colleges and universities.
