Abstract


After global economy crisis in 2008, most companies have been focusing on cost saving in order to survive. How to decrease purchasing cost and maintain the same quality level became a key issue among these companies. Thus, effective supplier development is not only the starting point but also the core to achieve this object. In today’s China, studies in general supplier development have been very extensive and deep. However, those are rare in developing suppliers with special requirements as faucet components. Therefore, it’s urgent for faucet companies to reasonably reduce purchasing cost, develop their management levels and enhance their competitive power by further studying the current process of faucet component supplier development and optimizing it with scientific methods and experiences.This paper takes company L as example to study the supplier development of faucet component in faucet industry. By summarizing and analyzing process of supplier development of faucet component and example from company L, the paper provides optimization suggestions for problems in current process. Base on standard of quality management system, it summarizes process of supplier development of faucet component through analyzing normal supplier development process, special requirements in faucet industry and the author’s near-ten-year working experiences in supplier management. After thoroughly studying company L’s example of supplier development of faucet component, the paper introduces tools from project management and relevant system management to solve problems in it. In this way, the paper builds a better process of supplier development of faucet component, which will enhance the efficiency of the development project and make up deficiencies in current process, meanwhile it provides a good reference for faucet companies in building their process of supplier development.
