Abstract

With the rapid development of economy and modernization, our natural resources and ecological environment have been continuously undermined since 1980s, and many folk arts have been shocked by the impact of foreign culture as well, and some even are in imminent danger. Under the circumstance, "Protection of traditional culture" and "Protection of cultural diversity" have become an important part of China’s basic national policies. Government, through a series of methods including the introduction of relevant policies, carrying out "non-material cultural heritage survey and directory declared" and investing a lot of money, increases the protection of traditional culture and has achieved some results. However, the thorough protection work has not yet got perfect, so we should continue to strengthen the investigation and collation of folk arts.Jincheng Bayinhui, an important part of Shangdang Bayinhui, is one of the percussion instruments. It develops rapidly in the area of Shangdang and has a great influence in the whole country. Investigation on the present status is of great significance. In 1979, the Ministry of Culture and the relevant associations, according to administrative regions, launched compilation work --Chinese Folk Arts Collection. Each province (autonomous regions and municipalities) includes ten volumes, for a total of 300 volumes. These 300 volumes are known as "The Great Wall of Chinese folk art". Take Shanxi Province as an example, the cultural department of Shanxi provincial government, after a large-scale field survey, published five musical collection--A Collection of Chinese Folk Songs, Volume of Shanxi, A Collection of Chinese Folk Dance, Volume of Shanxi, A Collection of Chinese Opera Music, Volume of Shanxi, and A Collection of Chinese Operatic Music, Volume of Shanxi. It is so far the largest-scaled of Shanxi folk music investigation and collation for the heritage and development Shanxi folk music culture, which has made tremendous contributions for the further research work and provides valuable references. The thesis, following A Collection of China National Folk Music, Volume of Shanxi, investigates and analyses the status, which can provide a reference case for the country to establish the protecting policies and promote work of protection.First of all, in Chapter One, the author, through combining literature, conducts an overview of Jincheng Bayinhui and analyses various performance forms through new sorting on performance forms, which is the first creativity of the thesis. Secondly, combining field surveys, the author, in the angle of cultural anthropology, analyses the status of performance forms of Bayinhui according to the troupes’ changing and development, and then has a further analysis on Bayinhui, which is second creativity of the thesis. Thirdly, the author analyses the environment in which Jincheng Bayinhui shows its prosperity and development. And finally, on the basis of investigation and research, the author puts forward to her own suggestions on inheriting and protection of Jincheng Bayinhu--a special folk music.The author, according to the investigation, comprehensively uses the ideas of folk music, sociology, folklore research, and analyses Jincheng Bayinhui in a variety of perspectives. The creativity lies in: the author, mainly based on the performers--the troupes and centered on "human beings", tries to analyses the existence direction of Bayinhui from two angles--performers and audience. And the author has a second classification through the field surveys and rises to the unique perspective of cultural anthropology. The author, studying the causes of status in the angle of the troupes, puts forward to the following: 1. great vitality; 2. social status of actors; 3.individual creative activities of actors; 4. emergence of double identity of actors; 5. group characters of inheriting developing; 6. generality of actress of the troupes. Though a variety of performance forms of Bayinhui, Jincheng Bayinhui--a kind of folk music is developing.
