This article mainly discusses the development process of Chinese pop music since the reform and opening up to the mainland, analyzes the differences between pop music and classical music, and analyzes why contemporary university students like pop music, the impact of contemporary university students, as well as discusses music education workers how to guide university students to treat pop music in a right way, and how to educate contemporary college students about the pop music. For the university students, pop music is no doubt a fashion culture, and taking it as a music appreciation course will have certain significance of improving the aesthetic taste and artistic accomplishment.Through this topic research, during the procession of combing previous researches, enhances the author’s understanding for pop music, and tries to explore some suitable non-professional education methods for ordinary colleges and universities students, makes pop music playing an educational role in their daily study and life, makes them know not only stay on the surface of the music popular music, but understand the real connotation.
