Abstract


The use of descriptive and explanatory research methods to explore the discourse markers (discourse markers) in the court debate (courtroom oral arguments) to understand the role played by. Court debate is full of conflicting views and persuasive argument. Some discourse markers are often used as a persuasive language skills of judges and lawyers in the debate with each other. Paper corpus from the Supreme Court of the United States court debate. Sperber and Wilson's relevance theory as the theoretical basis to analyze the role of discourse markers in the court debate, and focus on the analysis of discourse markers convince. This paper argues that discourse markers understanding of the court debate has played the role of the associated constraints, discourse markers contribute to our understanding of the phenomenon on the legal language. The researchers explain the nature of the discourse marker are not the same, mainly the formation of three different interpretations, compared with the coherent theoretical point of view and syntax-pragmatic point of view, based on relevance theory of cognitive Pragmatic approach for discourse markers in discourse and understanding psychological explanation. We find that the debate in court, the judges and lawyers, the use of discourse markers to restrain each other looking for the associated discourse, and to strengthen their convincing in the debate. Well can also be used to represent the continuation of the thinking and views of the appropriate expression. In particular, the judge will use this markup language to interrupt lawyers debate, because the judge has the power to control the trial process. You know can be used to explain and elaborate on the point of view of the debate, and guide the hearer to want to come to the speaker assertion, and thus strengthen the persuasive intent of the speaker. It can also be used to mark the wrong words at the beginning and after the correction. I think as a discourse marker rarely scholars, but it is frequent in the corpus and the rich meaning should not be overlooked. It is used to express the speaker's personal point of view to emphasize its arguments in the debate. The markers can be clever and purposeful express consent and dissent, and attract each other's reply. This article reveals the discourse markers have different functions in different contexts, this feature is worth further study. In the context of the debate, the discourse marker functions performed usually with persuasion and debate closely linked. So from this perspective, discourse markers in the dynamic course of the debate helps to influence or change the way of thinking of the hearer, and strengthen exchanges intention of the speaker. The research will also help to clarify the use of discourse markers court debate into an understandable and strategic communication process.
