Abstract

Objective:To study the cognition and the impact of fatigue on cognition of patients with myasthenia gravisMaterials and methods:A sample of 17 consecutive patients(15 of IIb,2 ofⅡa) with the general myasthenia gravis, aged 20-60 years, was investigated using neuropsychological examination covering global cognitive function, executive function, memory function, language function, space function and attention. These patients were compared to normal control subjects(n=15). All subjects completed the Multicomponent Fatigue Inventory (MFI) before,in and after examining. Then,we compared the cognition of MG group and the cognition of control group.we aslo study the relationship between cognitive performance and fatigue of MG group.Result:(1)Cognitive performance of the patients was inferior to that of the normal control group throughout all domains.(2)The ratings of change in mental fatigue of MG patients are siginificant worse comparming to the control group.(3)the cognitive performance which had related to fatigue distributed all the domains of cognition;most of them of the general MG patients were significantly related to the ratings of change in mental fatigue.in the same time, some of cognition were related to the rating of change in physiological fatigue.(4)the cognition which were related to the rating of change in mental fatigur was operational examination or the examination which needed eye glance. Conclusion:There are disorder of cognitive function in the patients with myasthenia gravis and the disorder of cognitive performance is mainly related to the changes of mental fatigue. Objective:To exp lore the activation of brain regions in myasthenia gravis during spatialworkingmemory task using fMR I technique. Methods:two right-handed healthy controls and seven right-handed samples with MG participated in a test of spatial working memory task and the fMR I data were recorded. A control task was performed for the block-design. SPM8 was used to analyze the data and obtain the activated brain regions. Results:The brain cortex areas including the bilateral parietal lobes, the bilateral frontal lobes, and the bilateral occipitotemporal lobes were activated during the task in healthy controls。The brain regions activated during the task in samples with MG are different from those in healthy controls.MG’s area activated is more dispersed than the healthy controls. Conclusions:In human brain, the information of spatialworkingmemory is manipulated by the activity of the cerebrum, which is different from MG’s.MG patients had dispersed tedency.
