Abstract


August 9, 1965 , Singapore from the Federation of Malaysia gained independence. However , as an overseas Chinese - majority country , after independence , Singapore commitment to its neighbors , it will be in the area the last country to establish diplomatic relations and China . Which reasons ? This paper to explore factors affecting Singapore and China established diplomatic relations . This paper analyzed from three aspects : First, a brief contact between Singapore and China before the establishment of diplomatic relations ; second is mainly on the analysis of the impact of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China , Malaysia and Indonesia factors . The analysis of these factors on the development of the current relations between China and New revelation . After independence , Singapore is in the Cold War , important because of its geographical location and the special situation , the two most important neighbors , Malaysia and Indonesia have been skeptical . Therefore, Singapore 's diplomacy is a region -oriented diplomacy to deal with relations with its neighbors is its basis points . In the neighboring countries around the survival and development of this small country 's main ethnic Chinese in obtained the same purpose . So , Singapore independent after commitment to its neighbors will be in the region last country to establish diplomatic relations and China . History has proven that this is correct, sensible and pragmatic diplomatic strategy and to choose not only the country through the most difficult period , but also to create a good foreign relations and international environment , and safeguarding the country's security , stability and prosperity .
