Abstract


Objectives:By investigating and analyzing the awareness of prevention knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of AIDS among Middle School students from a county of Henan Province, the characteristic and defection of AIDS prevention education was found, which would provide an important theoretical basis to explore and develop educational plans for Middle School students.Methods:A cluster sampling method was used to investigate a class of senior middle school students and a class of junior middle school students. A self-designing questionnaires was filled up by the single student.We sampled 8 classes from junior middle school and 9 classes from senior middle school to answer the questionnaires anonymously to collect information. The software of Foxpro6.0 and SPSS 13.0 were used to analyze the data.Results:1. Analysis on AIDS transmission among students The results showed that the students have some knowledge about HIV transmission but still not enough and there was a deviation between different groups of students in understanding the HIV transmission. The ratio of correct answers of urban students was higher than rural students (P<0.01). The awareness of HIV transmission of students with different household income was different (P<0.01). The ratio of correct answers of students with different household income in the blood transmission, sexual contact and some aspects of daily life had significant differences (P<0.01). The higher the family income, the higher rate of correct answers for students (P<0.05),The higher the education level of the parents, the higher rate of correct answers for the students (P<0.05).2. The awareness of students about AIDS prevention behavior The results indicated that the ratio of correct answers of male students was higher than female students (P<0.05),The ratio of correct answers of 9 questions among the 14 questions of urban students was higher than rural students (P<0.05),When answered the questions about "there is no way to completely cure AIDS currently", "anyone may be infected by AIDS", "people suffering from sexually transmitted diseases are more susceptible to AIDS", "cumulative AIDS in China is more than 800,000", "AIDS can be cured if treated early", the deviation of the ratio of correct answers between students with different family income had significant differences (P<0.05), and high family income students was higher than low family income students. The higher the education level of parents, the higher rate of correct answers for students (P<0.05). When answered the questions about "AIDS can be prevented by vaccination now", the ratio of correct answers of students with father education level as "junior middle school" was higher than students in other groups (P<0.05).3. The attitudes to get along with AIDS The positive attitudes of junior middle school students was higher than senior middle school students (P<0.05). When they answer the question of whether they are willing to have classes with AIDS students in a same classroom, the positive attitudes of junior middle school students was higher than senior middle school students, however, the rate of positive attitudes held by both was not high. In response to the selection of communication objects about AIDS, most students choose the classmates and friends, especially senior middle school students.Conclusions:1. The middle school students lack the knowledge of AIDS prevention and need to be educationed the knowledge of AIDS especially the transmission of AIDS.2..There were significant differences among students with different gender, home address, family income and parent education level about knowledge of AIDS prevention.3. More attention should be paid to the girls and low-income students in AIDS health education.
