Abstract


The research learner 's language learning beliefs and learning strategies and their relationship to contribute to help foster a positive learning beliefs guide them in learning English , and adopt effective learning strategies . In this study, non-English majors Yantai Vocational College freshman year for the study, using two questionnaires : Horwitz, language learning beliefs questionnaire (BALLI) and Oxford Language Learning Strategies Questionnaire (SILL). Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis using SPSS software , the data collected , the overall distribution of the language learning beliefs and language learning strategies students ; difference between the group of the two groups of students of the arts, science and two variables mutual relations. The study results show that : the arts group students than science group students have more positive language learning beliefs , arts groups of students use learning strategies is also superior to science students ; Man , processing two groups of students in the learning beliefs and learning strategies exist differences , especially in the assessment of the difficulty of learning English , the arts group of students that learning English difficult to learn than English science group of students that is much more difficult to . In the the strategies range of contrast , in the liberal arts group of students to use cognitive strategies and affective strategies ; Motivation and Emotion strategy weakly related in the range of beliefs about learning and learning strategies , in addition to the difficulty of language learning and cognitive strategies weakly related other various no correlation , motivation and overall strategy weakly related . On the basis of the above research , this study attempts to identify the existing problems and made a few recommendations to rationalize its vocational college English teaching role .
