Abstract


Agriculture is the basis of the national economy and the great target of China’s agriculture is to achieve agricultural modernization and to take the path of intensive and sustainable development in agriculture in the 21st century. Developing modern agriculture is the key to solving the issues of agriculture, farmer and rural area as well as a process of developing these issues from quantitative change phase to qualitative change phase. Weifang boasts a time-honored history in agriculture and has a profound background on traditional agriculture, and meanwhile its modern agriculture accelerates in an increased speed. However, there are still problems existing in the development of modern agriculture and it is influenced by some negative factors. On the basis of the study and systematically learning on modern agriculture fulfilled by the predecessors, this thesis focuses on the characteristics and main forces of modern agriculture development and analyzes the significance of developing modern agriculture. Based on this theoretical foundation and through the combination of theory and practice, survey research and standardized research, the thesis presents the exploration and research on modern agriculture development in Weifang by applying the method of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis in summarizing the status quo of the research in this field at home and abroad. Moreover, the thesis puts forward the tactics of modern agriculture development in Weifang such as increasing input, giving full play to the social functions, expanding markets, promoting structural adjustment and insisting on scientific and technological innovation after the sum-up and analysis on its characteristics and the problems confronted ahead. And suggestions and measures are proposed in the thesis on how to accelerate the pace in developing modern agriculture by improving the government’s role of perfecting the infrastructure, promoting institutional innovation, increasing support and protection, establishing service system, and paying attention to guidance and demonstration.
