Abstract


Sima Gong as an outstanding Thai-Chinese writer, as well as head of the Thai-Chinese Writer Association, has made a great contribution for the development of the Thai-Chinese literature. Since then, the communication between Chinese and Thai literature has hugely developed. And his literary works is a carrier for the country’s culture--which describes the Chinese culture’s connotation. Since Sima Gong has a unique background including experience from travelling from China to Thailand, and vice-versa, therefore his works show the characteristics of the Thai and Chinese culture. This essay analyzes Sima Gong’s experience of literary works and shows that his works is a good example of the coexistence of the two countries’ culture. Sima Gong’s great contribution also reflects how his works greatly help the Thai who study the Chinese language and the Chinese who study the Thai language. Since Sima Gong recommends the use of simplified Chinese characters, there is, now, a phenomenon in Thailand that both simplified and the traditional characters exist. It not only accelerates the broadcast of the Chinese and Thai -Chinese literature but also well for the communication between China and Thailand. The communication between China (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) and the Thai-Chinese literature has been much better.
