Abstract


As a traditional visual communication media, newspaper is closely connected with our daily life, and play an extreme role in it.Yet to take the lead in the current heatedly contested media market and catch the readers, a newpaper should not only think highly of its contents, but also make good use of the expression power of its page layouts,especially reader-friendly presentation of the pages.The thesis analyzes the reader-friendly presentation of newspaper pages both in theory and practice, and explores its rules from the perspectives of visual physiology and psychology and graphic design theories.By analyzing the ways of reading and integrating the expression methods, the thesis discusses how to design the page outlays of current newspapers, suggests that reader-friendly presentation is the trend of development,emphasizes the importance of designing the visual center of pages and the necessity of a newspaper having its own brand image besides a general style. And the author then goes on to comment on some shortcomings in page outlaying of newspapers and their possible improvements. The thesis also gives some suggestions on how to improve the reader-friendly presentation of a newspaper.
