With the use of ARM core processor as a solution for embedded intelligence products more and more, based on the ARM core processor for embedded software debugging methods in the development process more and more people's attention . ARM company recently launched the ARM11 core processors, have been widely used in wireless devices , electronic consumer products and automotive control systems. Therefore, based on the boundary -scan test technology (JTAG), designed to achieve the ARM11 debugging system that helps debug board support packages such as the bottom of embedded software for application developers to quickly locate bugs. JTAG-based ARM11 debug system in the hardware division for the PC host , debug target and protocol converters. PC host for running the debugger software , debug target machine is running the program being debugged , the use of protocol converters , PC host by a parallel device to the debug target JTAG interface to send debug commands simultaneously from parallel device is read by the JTAG interface is returned debugging information. Debug system uses a bottom- up approach designed to achieve, on the whole is divided into the protocol layer and the functional layer two parts. Protocol layer by the JTAG signal simulation , state transition machine and boundary scan chain of three modules . JTAG signal simulation module based on Linux and Windows platforms parallel read and write operations to achieve ; state transition machine module using digital sequence method design , the JTAG signals under the control of the use of state transition interactive data ; boundary scan chain module with fast moving bit design, completion of the command registers and data registers. In the protocol layer basis, debug system functional layer is designed to read and write registers , read and write the memory unit, and set breakpoints and observation point function . Which read and write register function, using ARM11 core processor debug data channel to achieve complete ; then use the read-write register operations, in turn gives the whole word , halfword, and byte unit of memory read and write methods ; Finally, write -off point and the observation point registers, complete set various modes of breakpoints and observation points.
