Abstract


Watercolor painting dates from the West. Because of its agile, delightful distinct personality, it is also known as the "light music". The West early has the prototype of watercolor painting in the Renaissance. It had reached a very prosperous period in the United Kingdom from eighteen to ninteen century ,but it was introduced into China until the late Qing Dynasty. Being less than 100 years, it also can be considered as a very new genre. Although the watercolor painting’s history in China is not long but it was soon accepted and loved by people and because the feature of drawing pictures by mixing colors and traditional Chinese painting have a lot in common, it had been soon mastered as well as developed by the Chinese artists.In China, watercolor painting has earlier been adoped in the art education system, and during the earliest time , the watercolor education courses appears in the Republic of China . There had been two developments of the brilliant period after the new China was founded ,and especially it became a small peak in the fifties and sixties , during which watercolor works had various forms and rich content, even better than the oil painting. Of course, we could not forget the watercolors which went through the difficult times of the war, the Cultural Revolution in China and so on.We also could think that it was on the verge of extinction during that time.On the contrary, watercolor painting with a unique charm survived, and deeply rooted on this soil of China by its strong vitality.During its centuries development , a large number of "fans" were attracted by still life painting with unique artistic charm which was an important branch of watercolor painting .Of course, on account for its foreign identity, it also encountered some limitations and confusions in this development. Even so ,people saw much progress and delight in it . More and more people are involved in studying the still life in watercolor painting ,so in the following days there had been new ideas, new forms, new materials and techniques in watercolor areas, and many excellent works of still life watercolor painting also continued to be talked about. Such the situation that the still life watercolor paintings appeared a colorful artistic look. According to my understanding and practice in creating still life watercolor paintings.From talking about its original history in China, I deeply discussed the development of still life watercolor painting in all aspects of the artistic features presented. I focused on analysizing the characteristics which were reflected by its language showing ways ,media techniques and other aspects and so on and give my exact examples and demonstrations and put forward my simple opinions. According to this important branch of watercolor paintings , we’d better summarize the present things, focus on the future, strive to broaden ours thinking , inspire us to deeper think on the watercolor, so that I can find some new inspiration of watercolor creation for the future.
