Abstract


Harkin is the first Chinese-American writer twice Faulkner PEN Award and a National Book Award . His work focuses on individual survival . This common theme and the theme of existentialism . The paper selected Harkin two novel \This article consists of four chapters and the introduction and conclusion . The introductory part fiction author Ha Jin 's life and his work , and Harkin and his work at home and abroad are reviewed , and then summarizes the research and writing of this article significance and the main content . The first chapter is divided into two parts , the first part of an overview of the development of the theory of existentialism , and highlights the main idea in the existentialist theory embodied in the \and the true self . After the second part of the contents of two novels , a brief , pointed out that existential ideological tendencies inherent in the two novels . The second chapter analyzes the absurd themes , and people embodied in the two novels in the absurdity of the world to the suffering . Chapter elaborate existentialist theme of the hero of the alienation of the self- alienation of the relationship between people in the two novels . Chapter by comparative analysis of the two novels , the hero in the face of the alienation of the self and interpersonal relations in the absurdity of the world and life showed a different attitude and response , pointed out that the hero in the \the Cemetery in pursuit of true self as a result of his tragic life . Hero Takeo while also facing the absurdity of the world and a strong sense of loneliness alienation novel free-living \In the last section of this article summarizes Harkin works embody the absurd , alienation and true self existentialist themes , emphasizing the practical significance embodied in the works Harkin , that humans should go beyond survival predicament in search of the real self and the final completion of the self achieve.
