Abstract

Since the 1970s, with the language teaching center of gravity transfer from teachers to students, foreign language teaching and research focus gradually shifted from the language itself, the materials and methods to learners main Individual Learner Differences gradually become Second Language Acquisition One of the main line. Research areas belong to the individual differences of learners learning style, and its importance has been more and more attention of researchers. In recent years, the study of learning styles and learning strategies has been one of the hot topics of teaching and research. Of great significance in the era of the full implementation of quality education, research on learning styles and learning strategies. At home and abroad have achieved remarkable results. But most of the research is the study of non-English majors for Chinese college English, but for high school students is relatively small. The high school is an important turning point in the learning career, senior secondary English learning is a critical stage, based on the above characteristics, language learning styles and learning strategies of high school students as the subject of the study. The purpose of this study is a study of high school students learning styles, and the relationship between learning strategies. In this study, the authors investigated the distribution of learning styles and learning strategies in high school students and their learning styles and learning strategies they selected in the foreign language learning process. The research is a quantitative study The authors first learning style, learning the basic concepts of the strategy, the basic classification and the theory about both. On this basis using of Reid learning style questionnaire (PLSPQ) and the the Oxford learning strategies questionnaire (SIll) conducted a survey of 120 high school seniors of Xingtai City, Hebei Province, the first secondary. Distribution of the collected data with social science statistical package (SPSS) 17.0 analysis operations are used descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficient analysis, the questionnaire results showed that: (1) high school students learning styles : diversity distribution generally idiotype followed by tactile, listen Body the kinesthetic and sub-type, at least in the visual type. (2) high school students learning strategies promulgated trend: most students use of compensatory strategies followed by metacognitive strategies, memory strategies, cognitive and emotional strategies, adoption of social policy at least. (3) there is some connection between the students' learning styles and learning strategies. The type of visual and auditory, and kinesthetic and group students to use more affective strategies; tactile students tend to social policy. Individual learners prefer to use memory strategies and metacognitive strategies. Finally, based on the results of this study, the high school English teaching suggestions, such as teachers should be aware of the student's learning style and adopt learning style consistent with the majority of students in the teaching process, teaching methods; students should develop their own teacher's help form conducive to promoting learning style tendency to avoid or reduce the use is not conducive to learning learning styles, weaknesses; teachers should help students more and better foreign language learning strategies and to encourage students in the foreign language learning process more and better learning strategies, in order to achieve better learning outcomes.
