Abstract


With the reform and development of higher vocational education, "integrated learning with work", "work process" reform and job-oriented philosophy are leading the direction of vocational education. Adjustment of the professional and curriculum have been taking place in higher vocational colleges in order to adapt to the trend of higher vocational education reform. Basic requirements in English teaching in higher vocational education made in 2000 can no longer meet the needs of higher vocational English education reform. And now most of the higher vocational public English teaching materials are compiled according to the Basic Requirements.higher vocational English as one of the important link in Higher vocational education in need to be reformed in order to meet the needs of the professional reform in higher vocational colleges. Then the higher vocational teaching guidance Committee in 2008 discussed the basic requirements, developed the English teaching requirements of higher vocational education (draft) at this stage, which explains higher vocational English course is an integral part of higher vocational education, which could train the front line needs-oriented talents in production, construction, service and management with high skills."This reflects they are indivisible, complementary and common development between the specialty courses and higher vocational public English. The curriculum of higher vocational English is a compulsory course in higher vocational education, which can lay a good language foundation to help students not only more attention to the students’actual language skills, but English ability to handle future career-related business. The direction for the reform of higher vocational public English is showed clearly.Under the guidance of the new English teaching requirments in higher vocational education, the paper analyzes the existed problems in the public English teaching material in higher vocational education, including selection of teaching materials, knowledge structure system, of teaching materials, teaching, teaching purposes, key points, difficult points of teaching materials, textbooks edition, teaching methods, teaching materials resources. According to the existing problems in the public English teaching materials, the appropriate solutions are put forward here, and the feasibility of the construction programe are pointed out to the teaching material construction of higher vocational English.Higher vocational public English teaching materials should conform to the new curriculum based on the requirements to analyze the current higher vocational English teaching material, and find out the advantages and limitations of its existence, then carry forward the present training mode of students in higher vocational English teaching materials including the basic English skills and knowledge. At the same time the knowledge and skills are added by the requirements to establish the new english teaching materials. And the paper points out that optimization of English teaching materials in higher vocational education need follow the characteristics of higher vocational students. Teaching of content still be determined which can makes students English ability developed, and can make English help their Analysis and study of the teaching method of teaching material should based on the characteristics of students to highlight key points and overcome the difficulties, according to the students English ability status, including relative weak English Foundation, and individual English differences, and high vocational students geographical features, and the English requirements under the relative major. Establishment and perfection of teaching material also should consider teaching methods. Combined with the English teaching requirements of higher vocational education mentioned in the "take a variety of teaching methods, key points and difficulties in teaching materials should be designed based on the current characteristics of higher vocational students.
