Abstract


The purpose of this thesis is to observe the phenomenon of the movement of the reduplicative form of adjective in attribute and adverbial positions. Besides preface and conclusion, the full thesis is divided into five parts.The first chapter syntactically analyzes the syntactical structure of the reduplicative form of adjective. It mainly describes the problems of construction, semantic orientation, the formation of the reduplicative form of adjective, the markers of adverbial and the adverbial structure acting as syntactic constituent of the attribute ahead of subject and object moving to the position ahead of verb.The second chapter semantically analyzes the semantic relation of the movement of the reduplicative form of adjective in attribute and adverbial positions. It mainly researches three problems of pattern of double terms and the pattern of selective indication in adverbial sentence and semantic features.‘Pattern of double terms’can be divided into three conditions: movement in double terms, movement partially and simultaneously.‘Pattern of selective indication’can be divided into four kinds: superordinate concept and subordinate concept, thing and container, tenor and vehicle.The last section of the chapter researches the semantic features movement. In this part, it mainly analyzes the problems of reduplicative thing-depicting adjective and its semantic feature of [+nominal], semantic continuum from [+verbal] to [+nominal], types of reduplicative thing-depicting adjectives, semantic features of reduplicative adverbial modifying object semantically, etc. The third chapter researches restrictions and collocation requirements of the movement of the reduplicative form of adjective in attribute and adverbial positions. The problems of semantic restrictions derived from basic meaning, order restrictions derived from the principle of temporal sequence, and rhythm restrictions derived forming regular structure, phrases of four-character, avoiding tedious syllables as well as the requirements of collocation of semantic and collocation of dynamic and static are researched respectively.The fourth chapter illustrates the expression effectiveness of the movement of the reduplicative form of adjective in attribute and adverbial positions. Firstly, this chapter analyzes the problem‘the effectiveness of expression of several terms appearing simultaneity’by dividing it as three sections: three terms using in succession and simultaneity of state, alternation-using and coordination of modality, successive using and varieties of description. Secondly, this chapter expounds the effectiveness of expression of adverbial sentence: from inherency to realtime, from attribute to status, from part to entirety, focusing information points and focalizing subjectivity.Lastly,there is a summary at the end of each chapter. The fifth chapter is conclusion of the whole thesis.
