Abstract


Objective To investigate the status of depressive tendencies of left-behind students. Research the intervention study of cognitive behavioral group counseling on the left-behind students for depressive tendencies, and to know the difference between the left-behind students and non-left-behind students after the cognitive behavioral group counseling.Methods To investigate 163 ninth-grade students in a Huangshan rural middle school(81 left-behind students, 82 non-left-behind students)for 10 weeks, once a week cognitive behavioral group counseling interaction, observed the differences in counseling before and after. By the quantitative and qualitative methods ((using Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) to measure depression, interpersonal relationships, somatic symptoms on the left-behind students and non-left-behind students)to assess the effects before and after counseling.Results (1)Before the CBIGT counseling survey,81 left-behind-students relatively poor mental health.81 rural left-behind students in the SAS, SDS, SCL-90 total score and the factor scores were greater than the average of the 82 non-left-behind students,SCL-90 total score (P = 0.041) and somatization (P = 0.035), interpersonal sensitivity (P = 0.018), depression (P = 0.003) and other factors were statistically significant.(2)After counseling CBIGT, the mean of 81 left-behind students in the SAS, SDS, SCL-90 total score significantly, which SDS (t = 2.810, P <0.01), SCL-90 (t = 3.738, P <0.01) difference was statistically significant before and after counseling; The SCL-90 scores are significantly lower, Including somatization (t = 2.509, P <0.01), obsessive-compulsive symptoms (t = 3.738, P <0.01), interpersonal sensitivity (t = 2.914, P <0.01), depression (t = 3.474, P <0.01), anxiety (T = 3.327, P <0.01), hostility (t = 2.913, P <0.01), psychoticism (t = 2.184, P <0.01) and sleep eating (t = 2.619, P <0.01) difference was statistically significant(.3)Before and after group counseling,81 left-behind-students and 82 non-left-behind students in the SAS, SDS, SCL-90 scores declined significantly; Left-behind students in the somatization, interpersonal relationships and such self-ratings was significantly(p < 0.01).Conclusion The cognitive-behavioral group counseling combined with individual counseling could provide an effective method for releasing the depression tendency, and improved the mental health of the left-behind middle school students.
