Abstract


With the deepening of intercultural communication , film and television culture plays an increasingly important role in the cultural exchange . More and more translators subtitle translation . The author through qualitative research methods as a means to describe the way from Functionalist Perspective subtitle translation research . The According to functionalism teleological view , subtitle translation is the purpose of the act . Subtitle translation , as an act of translation initiator - the director's intent and audience expectations as the target text recipient determines the specific purpose of its subtitle translation . Translator based on the expectations of the director of the purpose and the target language audience movie , Wong Kar-wai 's \four levels of translation problems , and lay a good foundation for a better choice of translation strategies . The study results show that : the subtitle translation by the constraints of time and space factors , but under the guidance of the core function teleological theory of translation , the translator correctly analyze the various factors that affect the subtitle translation , many in special circumstances the translation problem can be solved through effective translation strategies , and thus largely avoid translation errors .
