With the development of economic globalization and regional integration in the 21st century, the relationships between China and Australia in politics, economy and culture are becoming closer and closer. Looking to the future, it is a major issue we are facing how the relations between the two countries will go, so the meticulous analyzation on Australia’s China policy in the era of Kevin Rudd will be helpful on sustainable development of Sino-Australian relations.Throughout the era of Kevin Rudd, the keynote of Australia’s China policy has not changed, the influences of Australia’s China policy in this period is multiple and complex, including both international factors such as Australia-US alliance and domestic factors such as partisan struggle, being compelled by pressure, the Rudd government attempts to make some changes but in vain, and it is also impure of his motivation and purpose of changing.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts:the first part, briefly reviews the evolution of Australia’s China policy in different eras, indicating the inheritance and historic of the policy in the Rudd time; the second part, overall analyzes the Rudd government’s China policy, especially for the three major problems later appeared; the third part, with the analytic hierarchy process, analyzing the influence factors of the late Rudd government’s China policy from three levels:the international, domestic and personal; the last part, analyzes the influence of Sino- Australia relations under the Rudd’s policy, and throws out three suggestions of how to strengthen the bilateral relations.
