Abstract


Recently, steady economic growth brings rapid growth of highway in China, and highway network has a profound impact on the urban location. Accessibility, composite index on measuring transport network, reflects convenient level of inter-city links. It is also one of effective indicators to evaluate region or urban ability to get development opportunity and control the market.Yangtze River Delta region is one of the fastest growing areas of in China. Development and improvement of highway network improves accessibility, reduces  transport costs between these cities, and changs space interconnection between urban location and economic activities. And urban location also influences formation and development of highway network. It has a leading role in the process of development of highway network. So it is meaningful to analysis the relationship between accessibility of highway network and urban location. The paper consists of five chapters:At chapterⅠ, it discusses research background, purpose and meaning, content and programs, and research progress at home and abroad.At chapterⅡ, it combs correlation analysis, summarizes concepts and analyzes evaluation methods about accessibility and urban location. At chapter III, it discusses present situation and measures about accessibility of highway network in the Yangtze River Delta region. The data are collected year 2000 and 2008. Then time, distance, weighted average travel time and urban potential are selected. Using Arcgis software, it discusses how highway network give the impact on urban accessibility in the Yangtze River Delta. Finally, it sums up the accessibility characteristics of highway network in the Yangtze River Delta.At chapterⅣ, it discusses correlation between accessibility of highway network and urban location from the perspective of location. Taking city size and socio-economic data into account, here give comprehensive analysison urban location, using space gravity and socio-economic statistical methods. And considering highway network accessibility ranking, then classify them on the bases of scores given to urban location and highway network accessibility.At chapterⅤ, it concludes correlation between accessibility of highway network and urban location. Urban location inertia was confirmed, and depth research ideas were proposed.
