Abstract


With the reform and open-up policy in China, there are more and more cultural interactions and tighter relationship between Chinese culture and the outside world. The trend of cultural globalization provides great opportunities for intercultural communication among all the countries but at the same time cultural imperialism is accelerated by the countries with great ambitions. Although China gains great progress on economic development in recent decades, it also suffers a lot from the actions of cultural imperialists. So, in order to cope with cultural imperialism more effectively, this research aims to develop practical cultural strategies and arouse the awareness of Chinese to protect Chinese traditional culture. The research mainly bases on the study of many of the concerned books and materials from the year of 1980. The result is that cultural imperialism will bring great damages to China but on the other hand, it could stimulate and spur the development of Chinese traditional culture and arouse necessary awareness for protecting the integrity of Chinese culture. So, with the development of Chinese economy and culture in the process of cultural globalization, China will only be influenced but not be assimilated under the strong invasion of cultural imperialists.
