Abstract

Zeami is the master of Noh, a major form of classic Japanese drama ,and also the legislator of Noh.“Hana”(flower) is the core of his theory.According to Narukawa Takeo et al,“Hana”,despite complexity,is essentially the performance effects of Noh arts.Since Narukawa Takeo、Kitagawa, Tadahiko et al interpreted“Hana”as a visible representation of Noh arts on stage,the analysis of“Hana”in later articles mainly carried out at this level.thus,“Hana”become an aesthetic concept.On this basis this article further considers that“Hana”not only an aesthetic concept,but a system of Art theory. The visible form of“Hana”is actually an external appearance of internal pleasure, which derives from the aesthetic motion reaction and experience of actors and audiences . We conduct a stepwise analysis and exploration of the hierarchy and systemiticness which were reflected by the existence form, the internal basis and the core essence in“Hana”. We found that Zeami had consciously considered“Hana”as a concept including the three hierarchies-form,content and the inner necessity for content’s showing“Hana”in his mid-term works,so if we regard“Hana”as an simple concept ,many asthetic concepts of Zeami (Yūgen, ushin or mushin, Myō) would not be explained reasonably.This paper argues that“Hana”contains three dimensions,of validity, purity, depth of.each one is the inherent basis of the previous one . The visible stage effect includes both artistic pleasure and non-artistic pleasure, but pleasure is their common character , this is the validity. Although the Art that it represents is not pure, it separates the art (though still broad artistic) from the reality.The second dimension focuses on aesthetic,which is the purest artistic thinking of Zeami. Through the analysis of Aesthetic Concepts we know what Zeami discussed is aesthetic and artistic conception . The fiction of Art makes it possible that all things can become objects of Art regardless of its properties both in creation and acceptance. An object is only a symbolic, which can be made an aesthetic object by subjects in artistic activities giving it a positive significance.And the purpose of giving is to seek the emotional reaction,while the symbolic just provides an object and platform. The third dimension is Zeami’s artistic thinking in philosophy and psychology,in which he considered Kokoro or shin as the ultimate basis of all arts. Art is a sort of thinking activity ,which doesn’t aim at representing the world but reflecting the freedom of thinking . Whether things can bring people aesthetic feeling don’t have a permanent external standard but for representing the freedom of thinking .“ushin”, or“mushin”both represent artistic thinking .The former one which mainly represents the characters of objects is limited by external standard ,and not really reflect the freedom of thinking.“mushin”already grasped the essence of beauty, form,dance and opera are not essential elements, beauty derives from the aesthetic emotional affect which is what Hegal called“The contemplation of the mind of its own”。This dimension directly seeks the aesthetic communication between the minds, and no longer emphasizes the forms of means .This paper argues that the third dimension is the core of Zeami‘s“flower”. He showed that the ultimate persuit of art communicates with philosophy in terms of theory ,which also exists in Hegal’s theory without concrete analysis. Zeami carried out detailed analysis and explanation in association with specific art ,thus practically proved art belonged to the same field as well as religion and philosophy.
