Abstract


As a famous American art critic in the later twentieth century, Rosalind Krauss developed a original critical method as structuralism and poststructuralism analysis, by taking successions of Clement Greenberg’s formalism, which had a great influence on American art criticism world. Krauss combineed Saussure’s linguistics, semiotic and psychological theorizing, to make philosophical analysis of postmodernism art.This paper brings Krauss’ art criticism into inheriting and criticizing the art criticism of Greenberg, beginning by her "structure period" (mainly The Originality of the Avant-Garde and Other Modernist Myths), introduces her interpretation on the work of Picasso, Rodin and some art phenomena such as poststructuralism sculpture with a structural way, thus critique the points of her art criticism in this period. At last, it extends the the view of discussion to conditions of the whole postmodernism, moreover, it gives personal opinions on today’s Chinese art.
