Abstract


The Chinese transition of Buddhist scriptures is an important corpus for the research on Chinese,especially that of the Middle Ages.The thesis selects Dharmagupta-vinava as the research object,and places the focus on the polyphonic adjective(173),which has the same form both in ancient and modern Chinese,and so, manages to have a preliminary study on them.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts:1.The research on word-building manner of the polyphonic adjective with the same form in ancient and modern Chinese in Dharmagupta-vinava.This chapter can be divided into two parts:Firstly,by using the quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis methods,we made a exhaustive and comprehensive statistical description to grasp the general situation of the polyphonic adjective with the same form in ancient and modern Chinese in Dharmagupta-vinava;secondly,by comparing with the polyphonic words of other books,we try to straighten out the basic thread of the polyphonic words from pre-Qin to pre-Modern.2.The New Phoneme and New Sense in polyphonic adjective with the same form in ancient and modern Chinese in Dharmagupta-vinava.This chapter can be divided into two parts:Firstly,we made a exhaustive description to the New Phoneme and New Sense,and pointed out that there are 41 New Phoneme and 26 New Sense;secondly,we had a preliminary discussion on the generative way of the New Phoneme and New Sense.3.The semantic comparison between the polyphonic adjective with the same form in ancient and modern Chinese in Dharmagupta-vinava and modern Chinese. This chapter can be divided into two parts:Firstly,the sense has been preserved; secondly,there exist semantic differences between Dharmagupta-vinava and modern Chinese.In sum,based on the above discussions from three aspects,this thesis aims at an comprehensive study and some characteristics of the polyphonic adjective with the same form in ancient and modern Chinese in Dharmagupta-vinava,and we hope to provide some help for the study of Chinese vocabulary history.
