Abstract


China and India are not only Asian countries but also the fastest growing developing countries in Asia. Both countries are agricultural countries, with agriculture accounting for a large percentage in the GDP and agricultural development relatively backward but different. China officially joined the WTO in December 11, 2001,and entered the transition period in 2005.Since then, the agricultural development has been suffering from some certain impact, agricultural trade barriers encountered, into the plight of the trade deficit. Within the framework, China manage to seek effective measures to safeguard agricultural production in WTO, and to promote the development of China’s agricultural trade. India is one of the founding members of WTO. Since joining the WTO the Indian government has taken effective measures in both the adjustment of domestic agricultural production and agricultural trade policy and the selection and implementation of national agricultural policies. India is well experienced in making decisions on agricultural trade policy, and especially in the implementation of "Agreement on Agriculture". Based on the comparative study of agricultural trade policy in China and India,this article aims to draw valuable conclusions and provide experiences and to promote the agricultural development in China.
