Abstract


Metaphor is traditionally confined to a layer of rhetoric and language layer , the past two decades , metaphor research developments in the field of cognitive science has been more and more widely recognized . Lakoff and Johnson 's theory of conceptual metaphor from a cognitive perspective to broaden the scope of metaphor . The theory is that the metaphor is not just a linguistic phenomenon is a cognitive phenomenon is the tool of our awareness and understanding of the world , the nature of many of the basic concepts of systems, and the way humans think human survival and even behavior are metaphorical . Conceptual metaphor is an important concept in the theory of Lakoff metaphor . The formation of the concept of metaphor is based on the human body based on the experience , so the body has an extremely important role in the development of human cognition . A lot of the nature of the human metaphor in language is a conceptual metaphor . The body metaphor is an important cognitive style of human understanding of the world . However, modern metaphor theory on the human body metaphor is still inadequate . Although domestic scholars from the point of view of the Chinese Contrastive more detailed classification and comparative study of both English and Chinese human metaphorical expression , but more from the start of human organs and visceral metaphor , metaphor research on human action is very uncommon . In view of this, the metaphor of human action as research content, a large number of English-Chinese corpus analysis , focused on the similarities and differences of the two languages ??in the metaphorical expression of human action . The study found that English and Chinese use many of the same metaphor of human action , the similarities reveal body experience , English and Chinese Metaphors same from common psychological , physiological basis . The same time, the English and Chinese metaphorical expression there are also significant differences , mainly in the formation of cognitive metaphor of human action subject to the social and cultural . This study made ??a more comprehensive discussion on human action metaphor from a cognitive perspective , further confirmed by comparison of English and Chinese , contemporary metaphor theory of conceptual metaphor , there is at least human conceptual metaphor cognitive universality and cultural relativism . At the same time , also to some extent make up for the lack of human metaphor studies . In addition, this study will be English teaching with cross-cultural communication has a certain reference value .
