Abstract

In the field of linguistics, redundancy is not a stranger to the topic. It is an intrinsic property of the language exist in the language at all levels, such as voice, morphology and semantics, and has been confirmed as an inherent feature of the language as a communicative tool. Based on previous studies and analysis of the corpus, we believe, redundancy have become an objective fact language, given the reasonableness and necessity of its existence. Therefore, the focus will from a pragmatic point of view this linguistic phenomenon discussions, confirmed the value of its existence, and tentatively explored the hidden motives of its existence, so as to further awareness and understanding of the nature and function of the redundancy. The concept of \Analysis summarized in the redundant definition, the article pointed out the advantages and shortcomings of each definition, summed up the basic characteristics of the redundancy, thus and so proposed working definition of redundancy. We understood as in any particular context can be canceled or simplified language units, that is, if the information conveyed in a language unit is already contained in the units of other languages, or such language information can be more concise way to express or regardless of the expressed intention, then the language is redundant information. According to this definition, the article summarized the various redundant form of structural redundancy and redundancy on two categories, the former including duplication and discourse marker, which circuitous said and contains. Define redundant, this paper focuses session two aspects of meaning and discourse its interpretation and analysis. On the one hand, in view of the redundant an important pragmatic functions generate conversational implicature, With the help of language learning session meaning representation theory to understand and explain the redundancy and corpus detailed its various manifestations analysis. Applied to the theory: the principles of cooperation, relevance theory and indirect speech acts. On the other hand, the article from the perspective of discourse, a typical corpus to explore the effect of redundancy in the rhetorical discourse and discourse function. Its rhetorical effect include redundant discourse stressed the role of the expression and descriptive aspects. The discourse function mainly reflected in redundancy to make oral and written expression more holistic and coherent. The article in the discussion of the two confirmed the value of language redundancy exists, from a pragmatic perspective. Finally, we believe that the redundant since as a valuable linguistic phenomenon widespread existence certainly has its inevitability. The last chapter attempts to explore the the redundant hidden motives, its main purpose driven, psychological needs, stylistic needs, cultural influence, and gender differences in these five factors. To explore the reasons for reasonable existence, will help us in further understanding on the nature of redundancy of this linguistic phenomenon.
