Abstract


Tongcheng School of Qing Dynasty as a large school that had the large scale impact, a lot of authors and the length of survival are rare for the world. In the books of general literary history Tongcheng School have a very brief discussion and it seems to try to avoid address it that introduce just one writer and another writer and another one. This paper attempts to jump out of this mode to consider Tongcheng School as a whole and as a prominent representative of the literary ideas, so more systematic and more comprehensive of Tongcheng School Literary Thought might be found.In the Literary Thought part this paper does not elucidate as normal style that explain Yili, Kaoju, Cizhang but from five categories that include the Purpose of Writing, the Standard of Writing, the Writing Style, the Material of Writing and the Classification of Writing.The Purpose of Writing: Tongcheng School considers classical books as the writing bible and the practical principle as the writing priority.The Standard of Writing: Tongcheng School pay special attention to the high degree of unity of content and form, which is a consistent "Yifa" theory reflected in the specific area.The Writing Style: If we agree that Yao Nai pushed Tongcheng School to a new level which can not be inseparable from the succession of the Yifa of Fang Bao and the Shenqi of Liu DaKui the Yanggang and Yinrou style is credited to Yao Nai.The Material of Writing: The practices for the learners include repeat and imitation of the classical books. Through out reciting and imitating the classical books the learners can gradually understand the method of writing and finally be free from the classical books and grasp the essence of the classical books which include Shiji, Zuozhuan, Liujing and Gui YouGuang, Tang ShunZhi, Tangsongbadajia. For the purpose of helping the learners Tongcheng School paid a lot of attention to the criticism and edition of the classical books. The Classification of Writing: Yao Nai’s "Gu Wen Ci Lei Zuan" is used in two grade classifications. This classification method made great progress and play an important role to the study classification.The part of Aesthetics Reception of Tongcheng School is not acceptable for the every detail, but the most representative part, just like the "paradox Tongcheng species" , "Whether or not Tongcheng School has the positive effect in our socialism society?", so this paper maybe contribute to the study of Tongcheng literary theory and the study of aesthetics reception of Tongcheng.
