Abstract


Classified as one of the arts societies to enhance students’artistic interest, college students’music society is an important component of college students’societies. Activities extensively organized and carried out by music societies may contribute to a harmonious campus culture and dramatically improve students’comprehensive capabilities such as ideological and moral qualities, professional ability, imagination and creativity. However, as most of the contemporary music societies are still in the initial stage of development, there still exist some problems in their construction and management, including a lack of thorough theoretical study. Therefore, a research into the status quo and development of college music societies may enrich the theoretical basis of music society and meanwhile, cast light on their construction and management.With a study of the basic concepts and theoretical review of college music society, an investigation into the status quo of several college music societies in Jiangsu Province and an analysis of the elements accounting for the problems prevalent in these music societies, this thesis aims to systematically and comprehensively put forward strategies to construct college music society and look forward to its future development.First of all, this thesis analyzes college music society’s concepts in depth and in detail and extract the music society’s basic and specific functions by a comparison of the similarities and differences between music society and other college societies.Second, based on the collection, collaboration and study of relative materials and information, this thesis designs four questionnaires and conducts a specialized survey of music societies in ten comprehensive universities in Jiangsu Province. These questionnaires involve the types of music societies, the developing scale, motivation, activities, development and management and so on. This thesis also summarizes the results of questionnaires carefully and analyzes them in depth.Third, according to the previous investigation and analyses, guided by the basic laws of college music society’s development, this thesis puts forward six developing strategies such as the orientation of the international development of music society, cultivation of characteristics and establishment of quality society and so on. Moreover, this thesis tentatively raises six points for the future development including the incorporation of music society into the college public arts education system and combination of music society and plan of instructors’vocational career.Finally, with a summary of the three achievements gained by several college music societies in Jiangsu Province, this thesis emphasizes the significant role played by music society in inheriting and distributing music culture and advocates a full use of the music society and the realization of its value as well as devotion to the inheritance and development of music culture.
