Abstract


Chinese hepatitis B activist movement was initiated by some of the hepatitis B virus carriers in recent years, a requirement to eliminate discrimination, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of social movements, it has received a lot of attention in contemporary Chinese society. Forum for representatives of the Internet platform plays an important role in this campaign, which has become the basic platform of the hepatitis B activist. In this study, the visits focus on its most influential representatives - \Research from three sides on the basis of the three main theories of comprehensive resource mobilization, political process, and new social movements analysis and study the role of the Internet in the social movement: to mobilize resources to create political opportunities as well as the construction of collective identity. The purpose of this study is to examine the specific environment in China under a special form of the network of social movements. This peculiarity reflected in two aspects, one is subject to government management, the hepatitis B activist movement relies heavily on the Internet to expand; compared with the traditional social movements, hepatitis B activist movement, lack of social movement organizations main. From the current point of view, this form of exercise, whether in the West or in China, less empirical research. This study used qualitative research methods of e-mail interviews, interviews were conducted with utter sincerity \The results found that the Internet effectively influence the collective identity of the hepatitis B activist movement participants construct, the role of the Internet in resource mobilization as well as in creating a political opportunity, however, is very limited. First, enjoy a strong sense of identity between hepatitis B defenders. The utter sincerity \forum for these defenders to create a set of relations network to enhance the emotional exchange and moral recognition of these rights through the network, and thus the formation of the \However, due to the lack of a formal and specific rights organizations, the role of the Internet to mobilize greatly restricted. At the same time, the network movement hepatitis B activist participants, with a very strong sense of self-censorship. The findings of this study clearly for the Internet with the existing Western research in the analysis of the role of social movements there are some differences. Therefore, this study can further clarify the role of the Internet in the specific environment of social movements, in order to avoid simplistic demonstration of overly optimistic expectations of the role of the Internet in the social movement.
