Abstract


In modern times ,Ningbo was gradually a important centre for Christian association in China. The church found all kinds of schools and hospitals, that missionary schools and medical missionary enterprise were development with its self-adjustment. The alien Culture which was speared by Christian in Ningbo, conflict and merge with Chinese culture. It has extend affected the changes of concept of civil society and customs in Ningbo,exerted important influences on the course of the process of modernization of the Ningbo society.The dissertation consists of six parts.Chapter 1: This chapter analyzes the reason why Christianity utilized missionary schools and medical missionary enterprise in Ningbo. There were two to for replant the fact that effect was unsatisfactory in the early sermon. The one is the close ties between Christian and colonial power, another is the antagonism between Chinese and western culture. It dispels opposition in the propaganda of Christian, and other methods couldn’t do like this.Chapter 2: This chapter introduces the creation and development of missionary schools. This paper sets forth the historical periods of the development and application of Missionary schools in Ningbo, including initiation, growth, maturity, and transformation, then points out its characteristics in varies of periods. Through the research on the five basic issues, including the school system, course, method of instruction and so on. Analyses the Characteristics of the students who were study in missionary schools, reveals the difference between missionary schools and traditional education in Ningbo.Chapter 3: This chapter introduces the development of Medical missionary enterprise. Medical missionary enterprise in Ningbo was divide into two stages standards to the subject of founding division: Missionary And Missionary hospital, and made a brief consideration. Focuses on the issues, including the missionary Western medical education and public heath .Chapter 4: This section analyzes the impact of introduction missionary schools and medical missionary enterprise on Ningbo. Missionary schools and hospitals brought the modern western education system, medical and hospitals management system into Ningbo, which had far-reaching effects the modernization of the education and medical of Ningbo. It also and has active impact on training medical talent , pushing the progress of conception of people and customs in Ningbo.Chapter 5: This chapter analyzes the characteristics of missionary schools and medical missionary enterprise on Ningbo, which had a trend to cooperate with Chinese society, to adapt to China, it’s political and religious factor fades, to become a independent business.Chapter 6:The appraisal of missionary schools and medical missionary enterprise in Ningbo. In spite of the Original goal of Christian missionaries was for service in missionary work, but it objectively played some positive roles for the development of the modernization of education and medical of Ningbo. We should made a fairness complimentary about it.
