Abstract

Economic globalization and the increasingly frequent international exchanges to English pushed to a more important position. The deepening of China's reform and opening up English ability also makes a strong talent to become an urgent demand. In college English teaching , teaching hours in the case of shrinking , in order to better improve students' English proficiency , strengthen independent learning is an effective way. Autonomous learning in foreign language teaching is an important concept . Since Holec 's book \Self- learning research in China started late, but received wide attention , the development is also more rapid . Domestic and foreign scholars from different angles on how to foster independent learning and learner autonomy have done a lot of research, they are increasingly aware that students learn how to learn than to teach students knowledge of foreign languages ??is more important. Therefore , English teaching should focus on students ' self-learning , so that they should learn to assume responsibility for learning , and better control of their own learning . This paper attempts through questionnaires , interviews and teaching experiments explore other ways to learn about their own two aspects: a ) 2009 , Zhejiang Wanli University freshmen self-learning situation ? 2 ) promote students' English Autonomous Learning what ways ? The paper is divided into six parts. The first part of this study outlined the background , purpose, meaning , methods and structure of the article ; second part of the existing research on the topic were reviewed ; The third part describes the object of this investigation , research questions and research methods ; the fourth section analyzes the data, description and analysis of the trial of the specific process ; problems identified for this study , the authors put forward in the fifth part of a six-point proposal put forward in the last part of this study and future studies inadequate orientation. Study found that , on the whole , the student has the motivation and desire to learn English , but generally poor learning autonomy . By instilling learning strategies as well as a teaching phase of the trial , the experimental class most students gradually began to have autonomy, but also to adapt classroom-based independent learning model , and achieved better learning results.
