Abstract


Enlightenment was the main motive for Sima Qian to write history and the starting point for SimaQian to establish his own education system under the influence of the ritual and musical relationship in traditional Confucianism and Taoist“non-action”idea. The system was based on respect for human nature, took realization of live value as objective, took morality as principle and treated history as enlightening means.Starting with an attempt to conduct a comprehensive investigation on the Doctrinal Theory of Sima Qian, the thesis dedicates to analyzing Sima Qian’s intension to write history, collating education ideas vertically before him, and implementing a horizontal theoretical analysis of his education ideas one by one. Straighten out his theoretical inheritance and change and grasping his spiritual essence, this paper strives to present the theoretical system of Sima Qian’s Doctrinal Theory completely so as to give it a comparatively objective value judgment, which will facilitate us to understand the whole idea of Sima Qian.In addition to introduction and the concluding remark, the thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter focuses on investigating the theoretical meaning of enlightenment and the relationship between literature and enlightenmentThe second chapter intends to Comb out the school changes and development of education thoughts before Sima Qian.Focusing on the core category of Sima Qian’s Doctrinal Theory, the third chapter aims to comb out its theoretical content through concrete analysis of his enlightening objective, its enlightening standard and its enlightening means.The forth chapter dedicates to analyzing and making a theoretical evaluation on the substance of Sima Qian’s Doctrinal Theory, and illustrating its influence on later generations.
